Course trip to London

London weather – foggy or rainy?
Shakespeare – boring?
British people – weird?

No, no, no…  19 students together with Ms Twalawadse and Ms de Groote had the chance to experience London at its best.
We enjoyed exhausting walks under a blue and sunny sky and had an overwhelming view from the SKY Garden on top of the Walkie-Talkie Skyscraper.
Although sometimes demanding and often overcrowded everybody managed to use the Underground to reach all the places of interest, the Tate Gallery, the Houses of Parliament, Camden Market…Please, mind the gap.
If you ask me, it is a pleasure to watch and see the Britons’ politeness and the talkativeness they show meeting inside and outside the several London pubs in the evenings.
Our highlight, even according to the majority of the participants, was the Globe Theatre performance of Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream”. Admittedly it was really challenging to have no seats and watch the 2 hours and 45 minutes long story standing in the groundlings area. Yet, the actors’ play, the costumes, the music, the fun, the interaction with the audience – all of it made this evening unforgettable.
…and the Brexit? Yes, we could find some signs of it here and there, small protests in front of governmental buildings, some friendly remarks of an elderly lady reassuring us, that the Britons love Germany…so let us follow the upcoming events and hope for the best.
